WARNING THESE IMAGES ARE VERY DISTURBING:

Several days ago a email came across the rescue list asking for help in Mississippi...There were two young akitas running loose with embedded collars...

We hear this a lot - embedded collars are not new to those in rescue...But then we saw these photos...

These dogs have been running for quite sometime but how does this happen??? We will never know how someone could stand buy and watch their dogs slowly choke to death.

These two very young akitas showed up in Nan's yard and she sprang into action - her first thought was to feed them and then when she saw their condition this amazing lady started adding antibiotics to their food...Enter McComb County Animal Control ... they are making a monumental effort to catch and SAVE these dogs...

Akita Rescue Society of Florida has been on the front line offering help and support to aide in the capture of these young akitas...Once caught and brought back to health they will make their way to sunny Florida and ARSF's loving arms...

PLEASE everyone - this is a HORROR! These young siblings have shown an incredible will to LIVE...The surgery for these dogs was estimated at over $800 per dog to remove the collars...that was before we saw the photos. Now it is not just a matter of removing the collars but saving their lives..Obviously there will be extensive surgery, rehab and boarding involved for them.

It is truly a miracle that they are alive - let's dig deep and help them to survive...

Meet Hachi

We thought he had one down ear - nope it was matted to his neck...

This is Hachi right after grooming - bald as an egg except for his face.

Hachi 2 weeks after rescue - he is doing well and finally growing some hair.

It's MY ottoman!

Ever since Jazz was a puppy the ottoman has been his "place" - they both have a "place"...Kat's "place" is right next to my chair - used to be behind the chair but she is too big to fit now!!!

Lately Miss Kat has decided that she might like to lay on the ottoman, and gentleman that Jazz is, he pretty much let's her - with a big sigh and a pathetic look he'll go off and lay someplace else...

Jazz is very particular about his ottoman - if there is something on it he will put his chin on the ottoman and stand there until someone figures out that there is something in his way and move it...well that doesn't work with Kat so he is trying a new tactic...get her to play and she'll leave...

Weeeelll, that doesn't seem to work either...even yelling at her didn't get her to move! (turn up the volume for typical akita noises!)
